Why Choose CEREC?

With Cerec technology, our dentists can restore damaged teeth and enhance your smile in a single appointment, making the treatment easy to fit in around a busy lifestyle. Cerec is a “robot” that can make crowns and restorations in one visit rather than the usual two visits, using a material proven to be extremely long-lasting and gentle on teeth.
• Eliminates multiple trips to the dentist for permanent crown replacement
• Speeds up the treatment timeline
• Eliminates reliance on a temporary crown that may be prone to falling out
• Retains remarkably lifelike porcelain materials which can be tailored to match the natural shade of patients’ teeth
• Removes the need to use metal, which also improves aesthetics
• Preserves a natural tooth in crown applications, making these devices particularly valuable to dentists and their patients

How Does CEREC® Work?

CEREC® is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Aesthetic Ceramics. Translated, it means that a dentist can economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural colour of other teeth.

How does the instrument work?
CEREC® is comprised of a digital infrared camera, a medical grade computer and a milling machine, THAT allows the Doctor to repair a damaged tooth in about one hour using tooth-coloured ceramic restorations.

No More Teeth Moulds
The camera takes an optical impression of the damaged tooth, eliminating the need for cumbersome and uncomfortable impression moulds, and uploads the image to the computer. Once in the system, the Doctor uses 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to design the restoration. Then the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) system takes over to automatically create the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the new custom-crafted restoration is bonded to the remaining healthy tooth tissue of the damaged tooth.

What does this innovation mean for you, the patient?
A tooth-coloured restoration means no more silver fillings discolouring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has been eliminated. The CEREC® has over a decade of clinical research and documentation to support the technology. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and effective.

Only One, On-site Appointment
Restorations created using CEREC® technology offer dental patients a long-lasting, aesthetic alternative to silver, gold or plastic fillings and crowns. Better yet, the patient can receive this smile-altering care in a shorter period of time. Traditional approaches often required a return appointment after the patient waited for the restoration to be manufactured in a separate lab. On-site milling eliminates the wait. CEREC® restorations are as durable as traditionally fabricated restorations and are similar to patients’ natural dentition in form and function.
Patients will benefit from more timely and more comfortable care that puts them back on track quickly. We are optimistic that the availability of CEREC® restorations will help some patients overcome their fears when they see how fast and painless the treatment process can be. We believe everyone should have access to their best smile, and CEREC® will make that possible for more people.
